"Today we spent the majority of our session working on the different concepts regarding photosynthesis. We analyzed the overall reactions and began working through understanding the light and dark reactions. We also analyzed the different photosynthetic pigments and their activity spectrum. We also began discussing in more detail the light reactions and the components (photosystem 2, ETC, Photosystem 1)."
"The student and I reviewed topics in preparation for her second midterm exam. We focused on microtubules and actin filaments and also touched on the cell cycle. I feel that she has made a lot of progress since the beginning of the semester."
"Today we continued to work sex linked traits, and began to go through his study guide for his midterm. I don't think we got through quite as much as I would have liked to, but I told the student to email if he has any pressing questions. While we struggled a bit with genetics today again, I think he now knows how these things work. I will follow up with a quick review next session. Next session, I hope to finish going through the study guide with him."
"The student and I went over various HS AP Physics HW problems. The problems came from a very eclectic mix including Astrophysics, circular motion, projectile motion, and vector interactions. The student is very motivated but stressed with her current workload. I helped her work on strategies to be more efficient in her approach to problems."
"The student and I went over vector kinematics. At the end of the day, he had extra time and no questions left, so I previewed dynamics (next week's material) with him. He was able to catch onto the new concepts quickly with the right examples being presented."
"The student and I went through a series of practice problems to understand the approach to different types of questions. We addressed second order non-homogeneous Cauchy-Euler equations and the method of undetermined coefficients for a linear second order non-homogeneous dif. equation initial value problem. We broke each method step by step understanding how to set up each method to find the complementary solution and the particular solution. Additionally, as these problems incorporate several topics she has seen throughout the semester, they were a good overall review to address any details she needed."
