"The student did really well today. She's mastered the concept of ratios, and is very well prepared for her quiz tomorrow. I like to challenge her and ask her questions that are slightly too hard for her, and will be harder than her quiz questions (like adding fractions and decimals), and she did those well, too! She then went on to work on her homework assignment, applying the ratios to similar shapes, and I taught her some tricks to think about polygons."
"The student did very well on her last chapter test! She also has a quiz coming up, so we reviewed for her quiz on exponents. She needed help simplifying radicals (e.g. sqrt(8) = 2sqrt(2)), so we did extra practice on these, using factor trees to find groups. We also reviewed simplifying variable expressions using exponents."
"The student did very well on her test on exponents last week. We did the corrections on the problems she missed. We worked on methods of estimating quotients, and recognizing whether the answer was an overestimate or an underestimate. She seemed to need a little more work with multiplying and dividing so we did some problems in the form of 3 x _ = 15 leading to 15/3=5. We also worked on how adding a zero to one of the numbers changes the answer, i.e. 3 x 50 = 150. The student created some of the 3x_=15 problems for me to solve. She really likes multiplying by 12."
"The student did very well today with the subtraction, both with and without borrowing. She wanted to focus on her multiplication facts, so we went over 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, and 11. She did well with all of these except 3, which we will continue to practice. She brought home a book that is for middle schoolers."
"The student did very well today. He did a fantastic job when we reviewed divisions with fractions. He was able to remember the strategy we put into place weeks ago, and with the help of his multiplication fact sheet, he worked through the problems with barely any assistance. Next, we worked on various multiplication problems with one, two and three digits. He did quite well and required only a few reminders of the process. Lastly, we worked on a few subtraction with borrowing and again, and he was able to complete the problems with just a few reminders."
"The student did very well today. I could definitely see improvement in how he approaches the questions on the exam! I would say to do more practice problems in preparation for his exam! GOOD LUCK!"
