Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Fortunately, the student's assignment fed right off of the extra material we worked on last time. He had two classes on factoring at this point, so after we reviewed his class material (which was easy for him), I started giving him harder problems. Aside from simply making the numbers larger, I also showed him how we use factoring to solve quadratic equations. This led to a discussion about higher-order math and its uses."
"This was my first session with this student. He brought his iPad (which is what he mainly works off of) so we worked off what we could get from the worksheets. We mainly went over graphing lines, slopes, finding the intersecting point for two equations and checking that. I left him with a brief summary about what we went over today."
"We covered the beginning of probability in Algebra. We first discussed the probability of an event/individual outcome. We then discussed the addition and multiplication principles regarding mutually exclusive and inclusive events. Afterwards, we covered some practice problems on these concepts."
"I helped the student with her test review. I showed her how to use the exponent formula and how to solve percent increase and decrease problems."
"The student and I reviewed her most recent test and retried problems that she missed. She is understanding most of the material and completes most problems correctly. We have begun and will continue working on double checking and reviewing a question before going on to the next, as well as not rushing through any question. I gave her a few problems from my worksheets to practice these skills we discussed today."
"The student and I covered inequalities and he did his related homework problems for his upcoming test. He understands the material quite well and I can tell he has been practicing and doing his homework. His test scores seem to be improving and it seems like he hasn't had to retake a quiz in a while. His grade has improved since we started meeting to a B-, and he feels like he can get it higher, so I consider all of this really great progress!"
