"The student did well today. We got through her problem-solving question without a hitch, and then she did half of a math worksheet I brought. Then I showed her the surprise I got for her, which was a geography game that involved finding animals' habitats on an inflatable globe, which she loved."
"The student finished up working on estimation for his math homework. He worked on his 12's time test. We also worked on rounding with decimals, to the whole number, tenths, hundredths, and thousandths place. He did very well. In reading he worked on finding the details to help support what a word means."
"The student got sick last week so we were unable to go over some errors he made on his test. We tried to fit that in with his current homework. We also had a little vocab and writing, and we went over a certain kind of word problem he has been having trouble with. He has been losing his focus a little on his math, but I don't want him to lose his confidence."
"The student had a bit more math today, so we got his one reading assignment out of the way first which he finished easily. Next, we started his two-page math homework, which he seemed to understand pretty well. He knows how to estimate to get reasonable numbers, and he is now adding three-digit numbers. He took his time and only made a few mistakes with his adding only because he was not paying full attention. He then spent some time on the coding website from school practicing his coding. We finished the session by going over his Level 6 speed math test. We did division flashcards to help him prep for Level 6, and he took one practice test to get ready for tomorrow."
"The student had a calm effect upon my arrival; he mentioned he had homework, so that was the first item on the agenda for this session. His homework was related to the concepts of Least Common Multiple (LCM) and Factors; it contained word problems, as well. After he finished his homework, he worked on finding missing factors in number sentences, finding prime factors for a given number, and finding multiples of a number. He also practiced long division with two digit divisors, and multiplying 3-digit by 3-digit numbers. Strategies for this session included: verbal prompts, verbal praise, Socratic Method, and structured teaching. Overall, he had a great session; he stayed focused for the entire hour and attempted all tasks presented. In addition, He accepted feedback nicely. He mentioned that he had earned an 88% on his last math quiz. Congratulations! Great job!"
"The student had a great session today. We were able to warm up with basic multiplication facts. He is improving on his automatic recall. Next, we worked on decimals and place values. He was able to successfully integrate inequalities, as well. We worked on alternative worksheets that are on his grade level. He did a great job!"
