We spent the lesson preparing for the student's upcoming quiz and final exams. We started by doing practice problems using the future tense. I noticed she was having trouble with irregular verbs in the future tense, so I made note cards and quizzed her on those verbs, both their conjugations and meanings. Then I gave her sentences in English using the verbs and had her translate them. This was a very effective strategy, as she had the verbs memorized quickly. Next we reviewed direct and indirect objects, which will appear on the final. We reviewed grammar rules, and once we got into the exercises, she performed well. I had her read everything she was doing out loud to help with her confidence in speaking and to help register what "sounds right" when using object pronouns. Overall, she is doing really well. I'm very impressed by her level of motivation and how quickly she picks up concepts once they are clearly explained.

We covered conjugating verbs in the future and the future conditional tense. The student completed several worksheets after a review of the future and future conditional tenses. The student continues to show improvement with conjugating verbs, and after our review, she gained confidence and completed the worksheets with little guidance. After the worksheets were completed, we began to review for an oral exam that the student anticipates will take place within the next week. The student will be asked questions that may or may not include topics covered in the preliminary chapter through Chapter 5. I asked the student what some of the vocabulary words meant, and she was able to translate most of the words. The student was able to easily respond to almost every question. We will meet again in a few days.

Overall, today went well with the student! We worked on lots of Spanish conjugations that I derived from the study guide for his final. He probably knew 75% of the material. I feel that he has the desire to do well on his final to raise his grade to a B. I encourage him to study at least 3 or 4 hours to ace his final. He grasps the greater concepts of Spanish and the sentence structures. I truly want to see him do well on his test.

The student and I went over verbs in a vocabulary list that he will need to know this week for a quiz. His homework assignment is to write each word three times, which will help him memorize the correct spelling. He will need to know the correct translation of a passage and also be able to identify cases and uses of nouns, as well as tenses, persons, and numbers of the verbs. We worked together to give the English of the Latin sentences, and he labeled each word. I suggested that he go over the work we have done before he takes the quiz this week.

The student completed test corrections for an increased test grade. We went over synopses, passive infinities, and some basic sentence translating. Latin is a difficult and archaic language. Many of the concepts are difficult or nonexistent in modern languages. He does a good job of not getting bogged down and staying positive. Time and practice will greatly improve his skills.

Today, we first started with some vocab review. Then, we had some declension and conjugation practice. He had some trouble with second declension of neuter nouns (again), so we went over that in more detail and did a bit more practice. Then, we translated and parsed a couple of sentences.
