"The student and I went over a practice test in world history. I wanted to assess where he stands with regard to the test. He expressed his comfort with the DBQ portion of the test, but showed some weakness with the multiple choice portion. Given how long he's been away from a class in the subject, it's to be expected that he will struggle with retention. My goal is to get him consuming as much history content as possible moving forward. The student expressed understanding that improving his grade will require quite a bit of work on his own time as well."
"The student requested assistance with a world history project. The project consists of a two page paper with 5 required sources and a presentation with 5-6 slides. He had already chosen his subject, an inventor, Alexander Graham Bell. So I worked with him on finding high quality source material to use in his paper, and on crafting an appropriate structure for his paper. He came up with the first half of his paper and started work on the bibliography."
"The student and I worked together on the WWII chapter. We made it through all of the sections and spent the last 12 minutes reviewing the material. He was able to recall the information relatively quickly. As we were going through the material, he was able to answer some critical thinking questions where he needed to make connections between the information of separate sections. He told me that he barely missed entrance into APUSH. I hope the appeal process turns out because I think he would enjoy the rigor of APUSH because his recall skills are constantly improving."
