The student needed help with indirect object pronouns used in sentences. I started out by explaining what a direct object pronoun is in a sentence. Then, I explained what an indirect object pronoun is and I did more explanations of this concept. I continued with the examples in his book and used a Spanish grammar book I have and showed him the examples. I wrote out the word order for using both direct and indirect object pronouns. He did several examples from his book where he replaced the direct and indirect object pronouns in each sentence. He got it. I explained the uses for "se" in sentences. I gave him examples and then he did sentences on the mini whiteboard. Afterwards, he did sentences covering the use of "se" and did them all correctly. He has many exams going on right now, including his SAT tomorrow. He is trying hard to get a passing grade in Spanish by the end of the year. I hope he ends up with a passing grade in Spanish. We are both working hard towards this.

The student needed help with an assigned book in Spanish that she needed to read. The student is a good student and has a B+ average in Spanish, but she feels that she should have received an A on her exams, so she is trying to get her grade up. The student likes Spanish, wants to learn it, and was enthusiastic about the help she received from me. The strategies I suggested for her was to read the passage out loud and then we would stop and talk about the paragraph. At the end of the session, I asked the student what she thought of the session, she said she thought it was helpful. I asked her how she felt about working with me, and she said she liked working with me. Overall, the session was good and the student and her mom said that they would like for the student to work with me whenever she has reading to do for her class.

We met yesterday and started out by drawing up a plan of the topics we need to review before the end of the semester. We also scheduled some extra tutoring sessions to make sure we can cover everything. The student's class is starting on the simple future so we went over the lesson in her textbook and she took notes and came up with examples. We did some practice with forming the future and then we moved on to her written homework, which focused on vocabulary and expressions related to nature. We didn't have time to continue reviewing object pronouns, which had been our plan, so I left the supplemental worksheets that I had brought with her so she can do some additional practice this week if she has time. Our plan is to focus on object pronouns when we meet again this coming Sunday.

The student worked on a Schreibaufgabe about her family - specifically, describing the size of her family, some of her family members and their interests/hobbies, as well as food they like to eat, covering most of the vocabulary she has learned in class up to this point. She's developed an excellent grasp of verb conjugation, and is quick to understand new concepts as she learns them.

Today the student and I did a review for her German test coming up on Friday. We went over question words (wo, wie, wer, was, warum, and wann) as well as formulating questions. We finished with reviewing dates and months in German.

Today, the student and I spent most of our time on verb conjugation. We reviewed the list of 30 verbs on his most recent quiz and worked on pronunciation of all of them. He said that he will also be quizzed on time and dates next week. We spent a little time on that and will do more with that on Monday. I would also like to go over German sounds with him next week. After going over homework and preparing for any quizzes he may have, I'd like to include listening comprehension and reading exercises. We will begin those next week.
