Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, I continued to work on the subjunctive with the student. Specifically, I focused on irregular verbs since she has been having a hard time with them. After we reviewed some irregular verbs, she did better in the worksheet exercises."
"Today the student and I covered more vocabulary from last week (he has a LONG list) and he has the majority of the list solidified. We also worked quite a bit on other concepts such as tenses and prepositions. He is going to need to spend some focused time studying his Spanish if he wants to raise his grade (I would encourage him to sit down once per week for even 15-20 minutes with no cell phone and to study his imperfect, preterite, and subjunctive tenses). My biggest goal is his success, and that is my best advice! Looking forward to seeing him again next week!"
"During this session we studied for the upcoming exam. We worked on studying the preterito pluscuamperfecto and preterito perfecto compuesto tenses. We reviewed her class notes and then worked on several practice worksheets for both tenses. She did a great job completing the practices, and we addressed the things she had trouble with. We also reviewed the irregular verbs and came up with an acronym to remember what they were."
"We read and discussed dialogues about reserving a table at a restaurant and eating at a "caf," or a restaurant. We went over specific expressions related to expressing doubt, giving one's opinion, expressing probability and certainty and expressing a general opinion. We also went over a dialogue on asking directions. We also reviewed numbers, dates, definite, and indefinite articles. We practiced conjugating the verbs "pouvoir, "vouloir, "devoir," and "savoir." He is at an intermediate level, and he has a good pronunciation and a good understanding of the language. We discussed the topics that he would be interested in working with for the next sessions. Very good session."
"We reviewed the French alphabet, definite and indefinite articles, and a preposition. We also reviewed the accent aigu, the accent grave, and the accent circonflexe. We went over how to guess the gender of a noun based on the word's spelling. We learned the spelling and pronunciation of numbers one through 30. We also started learning regular -er verb endings. The student will practice -er verb endings this week, and I will be sending her a link to a new flashcard set, in addition to a short homework assignment."
"We reviewed the name of the animals, read a book, and drew some line and circles. The students are very responsive, talk a lot in French, and understand everything in French. I always speak French to them, and they respond very well."
