Physiology Tutoring review by Simone in Raleigh-Durham, NC
We reviewed a quiz/practice test, including molecular orbital theory and how to draw the carbon skeletons of organic compounds. I gave the student a few practice problems for Lewis dot structures, and he had a good grasp on how to count the meet the octet rule and determine formal charge. We also talked about strategies for if he has trouble figuring out a valid Lewis structure (double check the octet and rethink double/triple bonds). We also discussed some polyatomic ions, oxidation state, and nomenclature.

Physiology Tutoring review by Clinton in Raleigh-Durham, NC
At today's session, the student and I went over some of his lecture notes for his chemistry class. Specifically, we talked about NSAIDs, their mechanism of action, and their side effects. We also talked a little about the inflammatory process, and the immune response. We discussed COX enzymes, leukotrienes, and cytokines. Additionally, we talked extensively about enantiomers, chiral molecules, racemic mixtures, and stereochemistry. The student had a very positive attitude toward the material. He is a very bright student, and knows an extensive amount about the topics that are being covered in his class. I reinforced to the student that he should study his lecture notes from class, as well as read the assigned readings from the textbook.

Physiology Tutoring review by Andrew in Raleigh-Durham, NC
The student and I went over a couple of different topics today in chemistry. He continues to progress and is steadily improving. We continue to work on his weak areas and go over previous exams that he didn't do well on. I think he is on the right track and will continue to make giant strides in class. I look forward to meeting with him next week.
