I graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor’s in Life Science. Throughout college, I tutored students in a broad range of science courses, and served as a teaching assistant for my favorite 400-level physiology class. I am most passionate about Physiology and Anatomy, because of their direct impact on human life, and their important role in the foundation of medicine. Apart from working throughout my college career, I was involved in the pre-medical honor society as an executive board member, and was extremely involved in THON, the largest student-run philanthropy in the world. It is a no-sitting, no-sleeping 46-hour dance marathon in which Penn State students raise money for pediatric cancer.I recently moved to New York City, where I interact with and assist patients and physicians daily at an urgent care center. I am currently seeking admission to medical school, and take every opportunity to continue my own learning, while assisting others in theirs. I believe in guiding students through new concepts by breaking them down into smaller parts, including what they already know, then building upon that. The application of what we already know helps us gain a deeper understanding of the new concepts, reinforces the old ones, and fosters the confidence we need to thrive in academia. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, horseback riding, running, yoga and reading. I also enjoy experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes, catching up with friends over a good cup of coffee, and cheering on Penn State.

I have extensive experience with teaching, having served as a teaching assistant during my time in Washington University in Organic Chemistry and as a tutor in Organic Chemistry and Biology. I have a strong background in the basic sciences and can provide a solid foundation in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.I believe strongly in a holistic approach to teaching because in my experience students are far more willing to learn when seemingly arcane subjects can be tied into their day to day life and their relevance concretely demonstrated. I delight in finding and applying these connections, and I look forward to teaching others to find them as well.In my free time I enjoy playing badminton and bicycling. I also enjoy cooking and exploring local restaurants around town with my friends.

I discovered my love of teaching during my time in the Army. I taught several courses and really enjoyed it. I also was a teaching assistant for the Biology Department at the University of Washington during my undergraduate career. I loved teaching labs and getting to know my students. I am currently applying to medical school and still serve in the Army Reserves.

I am a rising senior at Duke University in Durham, NC. When not passing my time sleeping outdoors waiting for assorted basketball tickets as a "Cameron Crazie," I study Evolutionary Anthropology with fortunate access to Duke's fascinating lemurs and primates. My aspiration since my matriculation at college has been to pursue medicine, and I have just recently finished piecing together my application for medical school. Naturally, having just finished studying for the MCAT, I have a particular expertise in science of all kinds ranging from Biology and Chemistry to Physics. However, having also taken many AP courses in high school, I have a thorough working knowledge in English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Spanish, and Psychology. I have tutored all throughout high school and also have previous experience working with Mad Science of Long Island teaching general concepts in science to younger students of ages between 5-12 years old. In my free time, I am an avid soccer player and music fanatic (particularly alternative/independent rock). I am extremely passionate about teaching (both my brother and mother are teachers) and truly look forward to sharing some of the tools I have developed along the road with others. I know personally of the successes and, unfortunately, failures that have faced me upon my academic path and believe my down-to-earth and empathetic style makes me uniquely well-suited to help others along theirs.

As a pre-medical student at Princeton University, I've had significant experience with a vast array of subjects in both learning and teaching roles. I started tutoring in high school and have been hooked ever since! I enjoy helping others succeed in any way I can. After spending a few years helping students in my hometown prepare for the SAT, I've more recently focused on the hard sciences. I've taught students of all ages in the past and I believe it is important to curtail your teaching methods to the student's favorite learning style. Whether you're a visual, auditory, or tactile learner (or some combination of all three!), I'm confident I can assist you in understanding and mastering difficult concepts!I plan to matriculate to medical school in the summer of 2014 after taking a gap year filled with relaxation, a lot of hockey, and hopefully some scuba diving if I'm lucky enough to escape the barren oceanic depths of New Jersey!

I recently graduated from NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering with a bachelors of science in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. During my time as an undergraduate student I volunteered for Women for Afghan Women, an organization designed to foster a nurturing environment to underprivileged women and children. I had the privilege of tutoring and mentoring these bright children who often come from troubled families. My work entailed not only helping them with school work but also helping them cope with the situation they're in. I also had the opportunity to tutor for the Polytechnic Tutoring Center, which provides walk-in group tutoring for students attending the University. I tutored General Chemistry for Engineers, General Chemistry 1 &2, and Physical Chemistry. I learned to tailor my efforts towards each individual student and see which method best suited them. I firmly believe that each student has the ability to excel in whatever they wish as long as they believe in themselves, a value I hope to instill in all my students. I am patient, passionate, and excited about meeting new people and learning how they hope to make a difference in this world. In my spare time I love to watch and play sports, in particular Football. Lets go Giants!

I did not learn about my love for Biology and my appreciation for the sciences until my undergraduate career. After finishing my B.S. in Biology, I pursued further graduate coursework at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark. There, I studied Molecular and Human Biology. Performing research, assisting classes, and organizing seminars during graduate school inspired me to pursue a temporary job as an adjunct professor upon returning to the U.S. Teaching here in New York City has better enhanced my pedagogical skills and has taught me a great deal about the differences between group learning scenarios and one-on-one tutoring sessions. I am ever committed to better enhancing your understanding of the biological and chemical sciences.

I'm a current medical student located in Chicago studying for my board exams. I was home-schooled during middle and high school and from this experience I learnt the importance of self motivation as well the need to have someone that will give you the extra push when you need it. The flexibility of homeschooling gave me the opportunity to participate in the dual enrollment program at my local community college in Gastonia, NC. It was during this time, my first experience in a public school setting, that I realized my love for tutoring. During a college math course I was asked by a fellow student to explain the concepts we were going over in class. She later told me about failing 3 consecutive exams and was on the verge of quitting. After our third session together she began to see improvements in her homework grades and was able to score an 88% on her math exams. To me the greatest highlight of my time at that institution was when we "high-fived" after she got her test score.I transferred to Queens University after high school graduation; there I was offered a position as a physics and organic chemistry tutor my junior and senior year. I've always taken pride in helping students, and hold to the belief that anything worth doing is worth doing well; even when the job is tutoring. One Saturday I was stuck in the library for 8 hours with a tutee going over concepts in physics. Of course after our long session we both swore never to look at physics again, but the following Monday there I was at the Center for Academic Success with another student.Throughout my educational endeavor I've being privileged to help students both in my class and the classes behind me. At Queens University I received the tutor of the year award, as well as an award for a research project I presented both at the school and at a national science conference in West Virginia. With all that, the greatest reward is when the grades of a fellow student can be changed for good, especially when they are putting in the effort.

I have worked with students ranging from the 3rd grade to Undergraduate coursework. I love helping students of all ages as I am passionate about the topics I love to tutor. I received by B.S. in Life Sciences, summa cum laude, from Arizona State University. I am currently a fourth year medical student at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix pursuing my M.D. Some of the subjects I tutor include Biology, Microbiology, Physiology, Life Sciences, Pharmacology, MCAT Biological Sciences, Graduate Test Prep and Cell Biology. Some of my favorite subjects to tutor would have to be MCAT Biological sciences and Life Sciences. These subjects are near and dear to me as I recently (2011) took the MCAT exam for entrance into medical school and my undergraduate major was in Life Sciences. I enjoy engaging with students and helping to lead them to the correct answer and understanding of concepts through a question and answer process. Outside of school I love to hike, bike, and golf. You can typically find me outdoors on a day off!
