Tutoring review by John in Williamsville, NY
The student has a math quiz on Thursday and a test on Friday. He's learning exponents now. He has a pretty good grasp of them, but gets confused with negative exponents sometimes. I'm teaching him to habitually go back to the most basic rules and laws of exponents then work his way up from there.

The student and I went over another review sheet for her upcoming math test on surface area and volume. She has a very good handle on the material and just has to memorize the equations. We also reviewed her science flashcards for her upcoming test on binomial nomenclature/species classification. Again, she understands the subject well and just needed to review, which I was able to help her with.

Tutoring review by Melissa in Williamsville, NY
During this session, the student and I completed her reading homework and her math homework. Her reading homework was pretty straight forward and she did not struggle with it -- it was about Pompeii and I think she liked learning about the volcano. Math was a bit more work. Again, she was learning about how to divide large numbers by 10's, 100's, etc., but the homework was getting a bit more challenging -- dividing larger numbers by 60, for example. The student got quite good at doing the problems by the end, and I think she was really starting to understand how the problems "work," rather than just plugging away at the numbers like she was doing near the beginning of the session.

Tutoring review by Neil in Williamsville, NY
We reviewed all of her old concepts for the mid-term exam. We covered types of sequences: geometric, arithmetic, and quadratic. We covered inequalities, linear functions, and functions and substitution. The student was having difficulty with material she had before she had me as a tutor, so we went over that in-depth.

Tutoring review by Emma in Williamsville, NY
We had another good session today. We went over some more division, along with a couple new things: adding fractions with different denominators and multiplying 2 digits by 2 digits. The student picked up the fractions very quickly and picked up the multiplication pretty quickly, too, after working through a few problems together.

Tutoring review by Tejas in Williamsville, NY
I went over some basic math concepts with the student. She understands basic concepts quite well and we spent the time going over linear lines and their relationship equations. She is focused on the narrow concepts and needs to work better on seeing the big picture. I will help her with this in our future sessions.
