Today I met with the student to work on physics. Her class is wrapping up a long chapter on free body diagrams and dynamics. We worked through a few problems with trickier conditions (like a two block system with friction and tension). Mostly our coverage was conceptual, followed by completing the problem at hand. All told the student has a pretty strong grasp of the material. What we covered today was primarily edge cases or rather complex problems.

Usually our meeting time is Thursday, but we moved this session to Tuesday to help the student prepare for a test on Thursday. We did a brief review of the general content from the chapter sections the test would be on. There was some difficultly remembering Newton's laws of motion, but after practice throughout the session I believe these became clearer. We looked at a review sheet he had been given for the test. I had him walk me through his strategies for the problems he had already answered and then we looked at the ones he had not yet attempted. We discussed the relationship between forces, acceleration and velocities and looked a various pictorial and word problems.
