Tutoring review by Garrett in Lanesville, KY
I helped the student with nomenclature naming covalent and ionic compounds. She struggles with identifying the charges on the elements and how to balance the charges to come up with the correct chemical formula. I guided her through the process of how to properly identify the formula, and she was able to accurately name/write chemical formulas by the end of the session.

Tutoring review by Raymond in Lanesville, KY
We discussed what the student wanted to learn in his studies, and I assessed his level. First, he told me what he already knew in Spanish. Then, we discussed the Spanish alphabet and its differences from the English alphabet. We covered some basic greetings and salutations (many of which he already knew), polite expressions, and introductory expressions. I told him that I would provide him with a more organized review of the alphabet for our next session, and I showed him a podcast for listening practice and told him to review the expressions we had covered in the session. We set our next tutoring session for Friday.

We worked on calculating surface area and volume in rectangular prisms and more complicated (multiple rectangular) prisms. Although the student struggled with surface area, he was able to calculate the volume readily. We also built some of the more complicated shapes using blocks. I have also been working with him on elucidating his work more clearly, as he has a tendency to do too much math in his head and make proofreading errors. We will continue to work on this as well.

The student and I worked to start getting her prepared for her exam, which is on Monday. We reviewed ser and estar, as well as some basic grammar tenses she will need to know for the test. I also left her with a graphic organizer she can use to better understand challenging vocabulary words. We will meet again Sunday so we can get in one more session before the test.
