How can a tutor assist you in conquering Physics?

Are you finding your studies in physics more difficult than anticipated? Perhaps you were excited about starting class, but soon found yourself having trouble with basic concepts, like linear momentum. Or perhaps you understood the basics, but found you had difficulty with advanced topics like Newton's law of gravitation. Whatever the case may be, you no longer have to struggle with trying to keep up in your class. Varsity Tutors can assist you in finding a physics tutor near Kendall, FL.

Your tutor can try to help you create an individualized lesson plan, which will focus on your educational goals. If you would like help for the duration of your course, your tutor will be available to you, helping you understand concepts such as the law of thermodynamics and magnetic forces. If you consider taking tests to be a weak point, your tutor can give you mock exams and quizzes to help get you ready for test day. If you enjoy learning visually, your tutor can try to help you with that as well, through the use of models and other physical examples, so you can form the link between the concept and how it works. A physics tutor in Kendall can offer you a more individualized, engaging, and structured learning experience. By working with a tutor, you can work to ensure everything is personalized to your needs, which is far more helpful than simply studying a physics test prep book from the bookstore.

Session Summaries by Physics Tutors

Kendall, FL Physics tutoring
The main focus of our session today was to understand conservation of linear momentum and moments and torque. The student has a very great ability to conceptualize physics problems. When we work through these problems together, he is able to set up equations and plug in numbers on his own. He also asks meaningful questions. He prepared for his final exam on angular momentum that will occur sometime this week.

Today the student started covering "imaginary" numbers in her precalc class. We talked about why imaginary is a poor descriptor of this number system, and their real-world applications in science and engineering. We went over standard and trigonometric forms of imaginary numbers, multiplying, dividing, powers, and roots of imaginary numbers. Then we went to physics which we were talking about simple harmonic motion. We dealt mostly with springs, then went on to start with simple pendulums.

We did a review of all the physics that the student has covered including kinematics, momentum, energy, angular motion, and gravity. He showed good knowledge of all the subjects and I am confident he will do well on his final.

The student did around 40 practice problems since our last session that we went over today. We focused a lot on work and its relation to energy - how the work put into a system equals the energy put into it. We also did a lot with conservation of energy in systems where kinetic and potential energy are changing constantly. She is going to do some more practice problems tonight to prepare for her test tomorrow, and I think she will do great on it.

Kendall, FL Physics tutoring
The student and I met for the first time today. She had a lab on the second law of physics that included a cart moving with a changing amount of force but equal mass. The second part of the lab was a changing amount of mass but equal force. The third part was a test for friction. We went through all of the lab calculations together. She had already tried most of it herself, so it was a very effective method for her to really learn the ins and outs of the entire lab. When I left, she seemed extremely comfortable with the concepts and happy to understand the entire lab.

Kendall, FL Physics tutoring
We worked through a homework packet covering reflection. At first, he was somewhat shaky on drawing pictures of the scenarios and setting up his known and unknowns for object and image distance. After working through the first 2-3 problems together, he was able to lead the problem solving and noticed patterns in predicting light behavior based on objects and images. He was able to relate object distance, image distance, and focal length to each other, use object and image distance to find magnification (and explain what the sign of magnification meant for the image), and use that to determine image height. I recommended reviewing images in the text book that show examples of object placement and the resulting image to get a stronger grasp on material, but I am confident in his ability to set up problems and solve for different variables.
