How can a Physics tutor help you?

Physics, the study of energy and matter, and how they interact with one another, can be as interesting as it is complicated. Practicing physics involves asking crucial questions, and using research, observations, and experiments to discover answers to those questions. There are numerous key terms students must understand to excel in the subject. Some terms physics students need to know include electric force, Faraday's law, gravity, electromagnetic waves, quantum physics, and Newton's laws of motion. If you're having a difficult time understanding the core concepts and passing your course, a professional tutor could help. At Varsity Tutors, we can match you with an enthusiastic physics tutor in Bartlett who will encourage you to aim for the stars.

What can physics do for your future career? Mastering physics opens up job markets such as, but not limited to, laser engineer, applications engineer, IT consultant, data analyst, and lab technician. Working with a tutor means learning from an expert who understands how important it is for you to earn an outstanding grade in physics. Because it's one-on-one tutoring, your needs are top priority. Your tutor will custom-design a lesson plan that focuses on your weak areas in the subject, so tutoring time is used more wisely. Bartlett, TN Physics tutoring
The student and I went over some problems in 2D kinematics. I explained to her that unlike in her previous math courses, we can freely select the down direction to be +y if we want. If we do this, we must be extra careful to ensure we correctly label each kinematic variable as positive or negative accordingly. I showed her my general approach for solving any 2D kinematics problem.

Today we covered the basics of kinetic energy as well as gravitational and elastic potential energy. We went through some examples and some practice problems on the subject. The student needs some refreshing on derivatives and integrals, but the physics concepts seem to be clicking.

Today the student and I discussed free body diagrams and how to use static equilibrium conditions in order to solve for unknowns in a problem. She did not have any practice sheets so I found some problems to work on together and we discussed vector addition and vector decomposition. She had not yet gone over how to decompose vectors into their components, so we discussed that and I reminded her of her trigonometric identities. I let her know if she has any questions before her test on Thursday to please send me a message and I'll help clarify anything for her.

We focused on reviewing for the student's upcoming physics test on Newton's 3 Laws of Motion. We made sure to define all three of Newton's laws and identify which of the laws the various review problems referred to. We went over some of the different types of forces such as weight or gravitational force, normal supportive force, air resistance, friction, and applied force. We reviewed what the sum of all the forces on an object means when it is in equilibrium or when there is a net acceleration. The student was a little unsure of the first two laws and we focused more on those since he had a better understanding of the third law. He is doing better working with forces as vectors and knowing whether to add or subtract them.

We covered projectile motion. We worked through one example problem and two problems, and then practiced a little bit with picking the right equations for a given problems. The student is thoughtful and thorough. Once I showed her how to solve the first problem she was able to do a similar problem on her own. She seems to struggle somewhat in applying physical concepts to a problem. Specifically in our session some things needed more explaining, such as how to decompose a velocity vector into its x and y components and applying the law of inertia. She also had some trouble with algebra and reducing equations, and I think that some practice in this area would help her out a lot. Once I showed her a few examples she picked up on it quickly. She was a pleasure to work with.

We worked on the student's review paper. Topics covered included power, kinematics, and conservation of energy. She expressed having trouble with questions where the conservation of energy principle needed to be applied. We worked our way through a few of those problems and clarified her confusions.
