Physical Chemistry Tutoring review by Bailey in Akron, OH
We began the session by preparing for the student's exam tomorrow in math. We practiced drawing graphs and writing their equations using interval notation for the domain and range. She was at first a bit confused about how holes correlate with domain and range, but she seemed to have a much better grasp after we went through a few problems. We also tried another problem similar to those we were working on last week in which we must determine the maximum area of a square that can fit inside a parabola. She finished the problem with ease. We spent the last half hour working on physics. We discussed the difference between velocity and speed, how velocity relates to acceleration, and how negatives in physics show a change in direction (impossible to have a negative speed). We also used the kinematic equations to find displacement and compared our answers to the areas beneath velocity time graphs. She asked excellent questions throughout the session.

Physical Chemistry Tutoring review by Sunny in Akron, OH
The student had another wonderful session!! Although we work slowly, she is making huge progress in her understanding of the vectors and right triangles. Today we did some more practice finding the displacement, angle, and resultant sum of vectors. I instructed that almost all of her physics work will revolve around right triangles. She has no trouble identifying adjacent vs. opposite sides of the right triangle now. I'm so happy and proud of her progress.

Physical Chemistry Tutoring review by Eunki in Akron, OH
The student had a quiz the next day so we focused on chemistry. For most of the session, we focused on using the equations establishing the relationship between energy, Planck's constant, and frequency and that between wavelength, frequency, and speed of light. He had several questions he had worked on in class with classmates, but he worked through them by himself so that he could get more practice and become comfortable working through the questions without relying on anyone else. He slowly became used to using the frequency variable in both equations to switch between the two formulas to solve the questions. We also reviewed a little bit of dimensional analysis as this was needed to convert distances from meters to kilometers and nanometers (and vice versa). Lastly, I gave him an explanation of how orbitals and quantum numbers were used to diagram the valence electron configuration, something which seemed to help him a little bit in understand the entire forest, rather than just the trees, which was what he was being presented with in class up to this point. For the sake of the quiz, we focused on the information that was provided through his notes.

Physical Chemistry Tutoring review by Dakota in Akron, OH
The student and I completed a significant amount of work today. We began by outlining his assignments for the next 3 days, then I helped him take a glance at his upcoming major science lab so that he knows what to expect next week. He then completed his science homework, then we began reviewing for his history exam. He retained an impressive amount from the beginning of the chapter. The last part of the session was focused on crafting and revising vignettes, and though there is still work to do on these, hopefully the rough drafts can be finished by tomorrow's session. Overall, great work!

Physical Chemistry Tutoring review by Hannah in Akron, OH
We continued to review Chemistry topics that the student has learned so far. This afternoon focused on types of matter and mixtures. Once we are done with notes, he will need to do practice problems to make sure he can implement the material he is learning. I think we will start this tomorrow or Thursday.
