Finally, I taught her how to create a more detailed writing outline, and together we worked on a writing prompt. For Student 2, I started the lesson by reviewing her vocab and spelling words for the ISEE test. Afterwards, I reviewed her essay from last week with her, and discussed all the ways in which she could improve. Finally, I had her complete a reading portion of an ISEE practice test, which I will grade next week, and discuss the results with her.

She is a fairly good writer and her essay made sense, and she caught on pretty quickly and understood all the corrections I made.

He had made some progress on his own with the poem (one of the sub-assignments), and also benefitted from additional brainstorming. We did some line-by-line editing of confusing sentences and word choices. For his "article," we built an outline together, and began to build a rough draft. The student did well organizing concepts in a logical sequence. He continues to be more challenged by grammar and spelling, although he is usually able to provide a correction on his own once I highlight an area with an error.
