Central Falls Tutoring FAQ
Central Falls is the most populated city in the state of Rhode Island. Part of Providence County, it is historically significant for King Philip's War in the 1600s. You can view the memorial, "Nine Men's Misery," at the mass grave for the events that occurred on the land. The central beginning of the city began when Captain Stephen Jenks created a blacksmith shop and trip hammer along the river, quickly followed by a chocolate maker and other manufacturers. It was known as Chocolate Ville until 1824, when Jenks suggested the current name.
The city is served by the Central Falls School District. Central Falls Senior High School earns the highest ranking in the city due to its graduation rate and college preparation scores. Central Falls is home to the Adams Memorial Library, which houses publications from as far back as the 1830's. The beginning collection was originally housed at the Mois and Jenks shop and moved to a small, free public library in 1847 after it was established. The building is named for Stephen L. Adams, a community idol and who had included the desire for the library in his will. Hence, the library was constructed. Today, it houses old and new literature. Jenks Park was built in 1890 and given to Alvin Jenks as a gift. Jenks descended from the original Captain Jenks. It is part of the US National Register of Historic Places, where people can enjoy numerous annual festivals and activities. There is National Night-Out, where people can enjoy live music, vendors, food booths, and more. In addition, there's the annual Halloween celebration, which provides carnival games and rides, a Haunted Tower Tour of the Cogswell Tower, music, and candy.
