Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on graphing various trigonometric functions including sine, cosine and tangent functions. We reviewed the steps in determining the amplitude, period, phase shift (horizontal), vertical shift, and min & max values for given functions. I plan to review some questions discussed today with her in her next session."
"We worked on inverse trig functions (sines and cosines) in precalc. The student had forgotten some of the inverse material done in algebra II, so I reviewed basics with her. In physics, we did a few problems involving horizontal launch projectile motion."
"We worked on power functions, the identification of them and the parts and the graphs. I don't think he struggled too much on the material, but instead it was just an issue of practicing and getting the identification part down, most of this was pretty rote memorization. His attitude was good; he consistently works hard. We worked a little bit on how to determine the shape of a graph without a graphing calculator and how to do a regression to a power function. No extra practice. No scores to report, no concerns."
"We worked on reviewing finding an inverse matrix and determining the area of a triangle using matrix. The student struggled with the inverse at first, but then he had a better understanding of the concept after our session."
"We worked on solving trigonometric equations using the quadratic formula, and recognizing periodicity of tan, sin, and cos. We also worked through some PSAT practice problems involving solving a system of equations, properties of exponents, and putting a quadratic equation into standard form by completing the square."
"We worked on systems of equations and the different ways to solve the problems. After the student finished his homework, we prepared for an environmental science quiz he had the next day by reading and analyzing the two chapters."
