Phoenix German Tutoring FAQ

Contact Varsity Tutors for help finding a Phoenix German tutor for yourself or your student who can teach the language at any level. If your student is learning their first German words and grammar concepts, a private mentor can help them learn. An expert instructor can also work with you to advance your knowledge and skill set. Reaching for your language goals alone is usually not effective, but working with a dedicated educator can help you focus on becoming fluent in German.

How can a Phoenix German tutor near me help me learn the language?

German is spoken in Germany and throughout Europe, but people around the world are fluent in this language. However, it can be challenging for English speakers to learn. Phoenix German tutoring can be beneficial for your student in supplementing their academic work. It can help you study and practice the language so you can learn to communicate with professionals in your field. Whether looking to advance your career or learn German to speak with the locals if you plan to visit Germany, private instruction can provide the support you need.

The benefits of private instruction include working one-on-one in an environment structured around your needs. Your mentor is always focused on your progress. Whether it's to expand your vocabulary or learn the various nuances of German grammar, your instructor can customize lesson plans that focus on your skill level, goals, and learning style. Learning noun and article forms can take practice, but your educator can find ways to help you learn more efficiently, such as learning nouns and articles together. Another challenging area can be verb conjugation. But through practice, you can memorize and learn to apply the six different verb tenses in the proper situations.

Phoenix German tutors also have the flexibility to choose a teaching method that works for you. Lessons can be organized based on the type of learning style you prefer or which your instructor has identified. For example, they can determine if you are a visual, aural, or verbal learner and apply specific strategies and teaching tools to the lesson. These can include flashcards and written exercises. There are many ways to work through examples, and your mentor can correct your mistakes in real-time, so you learn to speak and write in German correctly.

How do I fit time with Phoenix German tutors into my busy schedule?

Flexible scheduling is another major benefit of Phoenix German tutoring. In addition to finding someone who can address your learning needs and most pressing issues, we can locate an educator who is available when you are. It's easier to pursue your German language goals and fit each lesson in-between other obligations such as your job, academic, and family commitments.

When working with a Phoenix German tutor, you can choose to meet online or in-person. Our Live Learning Platform enables you to communicate via video chat in real-time, so you don't even have to leave home. Aside from face-to-face communication, this system includes a virtual whiteboard as well as a document editor that can help you practice spelling and grammar. Assignments and practice exercises can be completed through the system. Also, you can watch recordings of previous lessons, which can help review the concepts taught and study in-between sessions.

In-person tutoring is also available. If you prefer to meet with an educator, we can locate one who is ready to meet at the location of your choice. This can be at home, but many students are comfortable learning at a public establishment such as a local café. The Scottsdale Central Library is another place where you and your instructor could work together.

Online German language courses are also offered by Varsity Tutors. Courses let you participate in live lessons with your peers, led by a qualified instructor, in a virtual classroom. By working in collaboration with others, you can practice, gain motivation, and develop your fluency. Better yet, there are multiple concurrent course sections offered so you can more easily fit one into your schedule.

German Tutoring review by Annie in Phoenix, AZ
The student and I completed a study guide that she had for History.   She used both her book and notes to answer these questions.  I showed her how to use the headings and chapter subdivisions to make it easier to find the answers.  She was very diligent and we were able to finish the whole thing. We went over her Spanish test.  The only trouble she had were a few conjugations and agreement between pronouns and subjects.  Great energy today!

German Tutoring review by Benjamin in Phoenix, AZ
The student will be taking the final for his course this weekend. He felt very nervous about looking at a problem and identifying which mathematical approach would lead to the solution. So we did a brief overview of all of the topics and their key words to be able to do this. We also developed a strategy for making sure that he slowed down and fully understood each question as he took the final.

I had my first session with Student A and Student B tonight. We discussed their academic and test-taking strengths and weaknesses and their reasons for taking the SAT. The boys did an essay, critical reading, writing, and math. I will grade their work for tomorrow and we will proceed from there.

German Tutoring review by Tobias in Phoenix, AZ
Reviewed test the student did. Timing is a major issue right now, especially in math. He needs to let questions go that are taking too long. Also, data sufficiency is a great place to make up time, as he discovered. He knows all the math, now he has to know when to go for the easiest or most logical approach. Practice, practice, practice....the more he sees the questions over and over, the quicker he'll know what to do on Test Day when he sees them again.

German Tutoring review by Charles in Phoenix, AZ
In preparation for the end of the year, we will forgo the usual ad hoc approach and instead focus solely on "endings." Today, we worked on verb endings and verb endings alone. The student did well, although as per usual, we had to spend a lot of time going over why certain idiosyncratic/arbitrary bits of grammar have persisted over time. He shows great interest in the history of words, word roots and culture. We will spend one more day on verb endings in order to make sure he can conjugate correctly going forward.

German Tutoring review by Marcel in Phoenix, AZ
Today, the student and I concentrated on indirect, direct and subject objects. This was in relation to their case in sentences. So far the student is doing better than three weeks ago and I believe is progressing in vocabulary and applying the grammatical concepts. He is still on a C but we will try to get this as close to an A as possible. During the last part of the session we worked on conversation skills as promised two weeks ago. For the next session I will have some practice sheets available for him.
