Today we reviewed the differences between lo (comes before an adjective) and lo que (accompanied by verb) and practiced using both in an activity from the book. After that we continued reviewing for the end of the year, focusing on double object pronouns. We went over definitions for a noun, pronoun, direct object, indirect object, direct object pronoun, and indirect object pronoun. We also reviewed some examples of their uses in English and Spanish. During this session, the student and I discussed a new book we're reading together: "El Alquimista." She expressed that this book was particularly difficult for her to read and wanted to instead read a bilingual book she has. I encouraged her to do both and to not give up on "El Alquimista." I also gave her a few tips on how to best read the book so she does not feel overwhelmed. From what she explained, the student understood quite a bit of what she read. She was more optimistic by the end of the session. We also discussed the subjunctive with a few worksheets. I asked her to read one page from "El Alquimista" for homework.

I introduced a vocabulary notebook to the students. It contains both Spanish words and their English translations. This will help them with gaining more knowledge of words for Spanish vocabulary and to be able to use them in sentences effectively. We worked on more verb tenses and introduced new verbs to work with and practice. The students both have homework of choosing 10 English words that they would want the Spanish word for. I explained to their mother that it is important for them to practice what they have learned with each other, otherwise they may forget what I have already taught them. Asked her to quiz them on their words and to give them English sentences using the words they have learned for them to be able to translate into Spanish.
