Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In Algebra II we covered how to factor trinomials and binomials. We looked over certain patterns that come across such as difference of squares, sum of cubes/difference of cubes, and perfect square trinomials. In Spanish we continued a lesson on moving into an apartment or house, and we read a play and answered questions concerning what we read."
"Went over the student's homework and class work and talked a bit about direct and indirect pronouns conceptually, and their usage in Spanish before beginning to tackle the workbook questions. When we came across an unfamiliar or tricky verb, we made sure to note it and make a conjugation chart. She has an excellent knack for languages and grammar; she got a 95% on last week's quiz and I think she'll catch up very soon!"
"The student and I worked on SAT reading this week, going over two sections. He is getting better at understanding what the questions ask, and will hopefully get up to a 500 next week!"
"We spent the majority of this session working on math. There seems to be a lot of math on the exam that he has not yet covered in school so it is all new to him. During this session we talked about parallel lines, perpendicular lines, rays, line segments, and angles. We also did some review of the reading comprehension section of the test, which he seems to have a really good grasp on."
"The student and I went over some critical reading problems she had completed. The most important thing she has to remember is to understand the big idea and look for definitions in context. We also worked on understanding essay writing. I gave her some tips, the most important of which is make sure you address the prompt and don't mix up evidence with points."
"The student and I worked on logical reasoning, mainly inference questions. We laid out a study schedule for the next week which should get some real results."
