Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"With the student, we completed passages in chemical thermodynamics, carbohydrate metabolism, glycolysis, Krebs cycle and the ETC chain. I also gathered some background information from her as well. She appears to be a student who is genuinely dedicated to doing well on this exam, and I assured her that it will require quite a bit of practice and time until she feels comfortable with the material. I instructed her to please order the test prep books today and to complete at least one chapter each of physics, biology, and chemistry for our session next week."
"The student did an awesome job with Grouping games. We covered In/Out games today as well as an overview of what Grouping games are. On Wednesday, we will cover some Logical Reasoning, more specifically work on diagramming. He also did an awesome job with deductions today but once again, needs to focus on what the question is asking!"
"The student and I continued working on analytical reasoning questions. We will move on to logical reasoning next week. She honed the strategy of combining multiple rules in relative ordering sequencing games in order to make one long diagrammed rule that will be especially helpful in solving the questions. She and I are starting to work on improving her timing with solving the games because time is an important factor in the LSAT. She is having some difficulty understanding the wording of some of the rules and we will continue working reading the rules carefully in order to ensure that she fully understands the stimulus and the rules before proceeding to the questions."
"Today we looked at connecting the questions the LSAT asks to the life skills that the student already has and to the skills that attorneys need. Putting the LSAT into context in this way makes it less alien. We discussed past performance, both in accuracy and time, and talked about strategies to improve both."
"We spent two hours on logic games and logical reasoning. The student has to work on getting the setup for logic games but after that has really great instincts. For logical reasoning, he has a very high accuracy, but we have to work on timing. Next session we will work on timing strategies with necessary and sufficient LR questions as well as more logic games."
"Today the student and I reviewed the Chem/ Phys section from her full-length diagnostic. I was specifically concerned with addressing the reasons she got wrong answer choices. She has made progress with her material base and more studying will shore up content-based errors. We spent a good amount of time uncovering the test tricks and pitfalls so they can be avoided in the future, something she took to well. She is completing another full-length test prior to our next section so we will have a good grasp on short-term progress then."
