Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I met tonight to help her study for her upcoming exam. She had already written an in-depth outline of important points and had composed a draft of her essay, but she was having trouble figuring out how all of the facts fit together. We talked through each of the important issues and events she had listed. I made sure that she understood the significance of these events and clarified ideas when she had questions. At the end of our session, she agreed that she was definitely prepared for tomorrow's test!"
"The student and I worked on completing his study guide for his upcoming history exam. In the future, he needs to be more on top of his reading, and get the guide started sooner. We will work on organizing and time management moving forward."
"The student and I worked on studying for her final exam for this course. She is doing much better when it comes to recognition of terms and understanding the different concepts taught through American History. I think she will get to her goal grade."
"The student and I worked together to make a decision on what topic he wanted to write his research paper on. His teacher had provided a step-by-step introduction to a research paper, but it seemed to still be a bit overwhelming for him. I compared his interest in vehicles to the topic for his paper and I believe he really started to understand what the assignment was asking of him. I gave him tips as to how to optimize a search simply by rewording phases. Aside from his history paper, we went over some issues with his reading. He wanted to understand thee novel he is reading better, and I provided him with some useful tips regarding note-taking. Overall, he is a very motivated student that is willing to put in the extra effort. I believe his grades will improve with steady tutoring."
"The student finished her testing on Chapter 5 by giving an oral presentation and earned a 100%! She continues to do great work! I am proud of the fact that she opted to do the presentation rather than the test option - I am delighted that she felt confident enough in her knowledge of the material. Excellent choice! We moved on to the next unit of study, practicing reading for deeper understanding and defining key terms and concepts."
"The student has a test on Tuesday, so we reviewed the entire period of history he'd studied up to this point, from the War of 1812 to the start of the Civil War. We went over some of his worksheets, which he had done fairly well on, but he needed to clarify some of his answers with more specificity. We also went over a few of the questions about the material his teacher had posed. Following that, we ran through an overview of the entire period, guided by the textbook, and we went over sections again if he had questions."
