Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed the concepts of object oriented code. The student is smart. After our review, he has demonstrated a mastery of the subject matter covered so far. We even went a little beyond the subject matter. We've agreed to schedule another session within the next two days."
"We worked on a Monte Carlo area-finding program, which estimated the area of a circle by random selection of points. The program involved building up several components and using them together, a task that the student initially struggled with, but later seemed to understand."
"The student has an exam on Computer Science tomorrow. She was very confused about Scanner class, so we went over that in the beginning. I pulled up comprehensive links from the internet to illustrate to her how it works. We worked on two types of inputs- integers and strings. Then, we went over concepts of data types, typecasting, OOP features like encapsulation and polymorphism and java.lang library functions. Overall, I was very happy with the session. The student seemed like a very quick learner, and knew exactly what she needed to learn, and that helped us go through the concepts very smoothly."
"We covered bytes and file size, I also went over the bit to decimal conversion we did last time to emphasize the concept. The student is a good listener and able to grab the concept after I explain it to him. Then, we went over for the concept of Java, installed it on his machine and tried a HelloWorld program, so he has an understanding of the whole process. It's a productive session."
"We reviewed database migrations and how to wire up models and controllers by hand. In the next class, we can build views for the new route we created, and create a seed script to create the description items for the route."
"We reviewed Project 1 related to C++- Logical and compile time errors. We debugged error messages and covered using the the IDE effectively. The student is a little concerned about her C++ course. She is afraid it might interfere with her internship related to Python. We will continue to work on this next session."
