Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student was beginning a study of electrostatics, talking about charges and introducing Coulomb's law, as well as basic ideas about conductors. He seemed to grasp the concepts pretty rapidly, and I am sure he will make satisfactory progress as we get into more involved subjects."
"We covered the chapter on nuclear chemistry. He has a chem test this Friday, and we will meet next week for the next session."
"Today, as a follow up to the last session, I brought a review of my own that went over each major topic that her class had seen thus far. We focused on significant figures, Lewis diagrams, orbital diagrams, and compound naming, as those were the areas that the student expressed the most discomfort in. In the end, she only needed the basic rules and processes explained to her before she was able to look at questions concerning the above topics and answer them correctly. She showed most improvement in naming compounds after learning how to identify and correctly use Roman numerals for transition metals. I left her with a step-by-step chart for completing Lewis diagrams, and encouraged her to continue to practice the mathematical aspects of chemistry before taking her midterm final."
