Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed some complex concepts involved in the student's psychology class. We covered the neurobiological processes involved in human emotions. After a few weeks of tutoring the student has scored above the mean on her last exam. The student has a good grasp on overall concepts covered. The next session will involve exam preparation including questions I bring to the session which will help the student think through exam questions, using all of her knowledge of topics covered."
"We went over the following topics in optics: Snell's law, ray diagrams, and mirror and lenses. He knows most of the material and just wanted to review it. We also discussed total internal reflection and he seemed to understand it after we reviewed it together."
"We briefly discussed the course the student is doing, then did a quick overview of circular motion and rotational concepts. Then, we looked at a series of questions based on rotational motion, and it went well. I will try to come up with some useful problem solving techniques for future sessions."
"The student has finals for biology next week. We continued to review material for his exam. This session we specifically covered genetics. He is going to begin in depth studying for biology this week, so when we meet next he will have a list of concepts that we wants more clarification/review on."
"The student and I reviewed her exam from last week and began reviewing for her final. She did well with concepts related to the central dogma of molecular biology. We also reviewed questions pertaining to genetics. We watched some science videos and used an additional textbook to help her understand the concepts better."
"We covered naming ketones and aldehydes and practiced some reactions involving these compounds, like Grignards, Wolff-Kishner reductions, and sodium borohydride. Remember to always number the carbons any time you are adding carbons!"
