"Introduced the student to 2-dimensional motion. I described how free-body diagrams would be broken down into both the x and y components of motion through a few projectile problems. I showed her how to draw the problem, set up her known information and lay out what she needs to find. I demonstrated and stressed that she keep the x and y components of the solution separate by dividing her page in half; I also walked her through how to solve for time of flight, distance and height of the projectile. We walked through a couple other problems before letting the student solve an example by herself. We also reviewed using velocity*time to find displacement and applied the other kinematic equations to find height, time, etc."
"In preparation for an upcoming final, we looked though the student's previous tests, particularly the ones that concentrated on forces. We then covered Newton's laws of motion."
"The student has 2 tests coming up this week, so we spent a good deal of time reviewing for the test she feels less prepared for. This test covers the topics of acceleration, velocity, and displacement. We began the session by reviewing each of the worksheets her teacher had given her on these topics. We discussed any questions she did not have finished and reviewed the general concepts on each. We re-did one worksheet that focused solely on calculations, and I left her with 5 extra questions from her textbook so that she could practice applying the formulas."
