Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered mitosis, transcription, translation, different types of cells, mosaic model of the plasma membrane, layers of skin, exocrine and endocrine excretions, etc. The only topic the student needed reviewing a couple of times was the mosaic model of the plasma membrane. Everything else he understood very well. He had studied material from the last session and was eager and motivated to start new material to review for the quiz tomorrow. I asked him questions that could be possibly asked on the quiz to see his understanding of the topics we reviewed. I also used repetition for the more difficult topics. Some more reviewing, and I think he'll be prepared for his quiz tomorrow."
"During the session, we prepared the student for his genetics test on Monday. We spent most of the time going over the types of dominance, how to determine types of dominance from a word problem, and how to analyze crosses. We also spent a significant amount of time analyzing pedigrees. Finally, I gave him some practice testing material, which he did well on. He seems ready for the test."
"The student and I continued to prepare for her test on evolution. We covered concepts related to classification of living things, including systematics, molecular systematics and molecular clocks. We also talked about a brief history of the world including experiments that support an abiotic origin of life."
