"We defined five of the student's weekly spelling words, read her AR book, and spelled out different words."
"Today, we began with math and worked some more on inequalities. He's getting much better at identifying which number is bigger and choosing the correct symbol to compare the two. He does occasionally answer before really looking at the numbers, but once I ask him to look more carefully, he corrects his mistakes. Then we worked on spelling, particularly with long o and long u sounds in words. We worked on thinking of words that end with "-ow", "-ue", and "-ew". He then had to write out sentences using some of these words, and he did a great job with this!"
"Today, the student and I focused on adding, subtracting, reading and writing. She is still very eager to learn. I am working on having her sound out the words and to work out the math problems. Overall, she is doing well."
"I spent some time getting to know the student, specifically his work habits, his feelings about each class and teacher, what areas he struggles in and which come easier, and so on. We then looked at the assignments that he was working on that were due the next day - two written assignments, one connecting a movie to a project done in class, and another in which he reflected on a personal experience. We also talked about planning and scheduling, went to teacher websites, looked at his planner, discussed using a calendar, and how to plan for upcoming assignments and events. We also talked about the use of his backpack and other tools in organization."
"I worked with the student on some new time management skills, and we talked about applying them to his homework assignments. I also worked with him to make a list of all his missing assignments, and we began to complete them. He is bringing this list to school with him, so that he can turn in missing assignments and improve his grades."
"Today we focused primarily on preparing the student for his ELA vocabulary quiz today. We utilized an external app, which offered us flashcards, practice problems, and practice quizzes. I worked with him to review the vocab for Chapters 6-8. We also worked through practice tests, and he ended up getting three 100's on them! I believe that once he is invested in learning, he really enjoys it. Once he is engaged, the skies are the limit! We also worked through sections 2.3 and 2.4 in preparation for his quiz next Thursday. He seemed very confident in his ability to ace the quiz tomorrow. I believe he can do it as well!"
