Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went over SAT writing section tips and tricks and also covered some of the math section. I left her to do another SAT practice test before we meet again."
"We went through two practice tests again, and the student showed much improvement since our last session. He still needs to work in taking more organized notes and in reading the problems more carefully."
"Today we went over writing section questions as well as some critical reading questions. She had some trouble with vocabulary, so I assigned her a number of word lists to go over before the next session."
"The student and I started the session with an exercise set about the direct object pronoun. He asked me to prepare a lesson for him to practice how the French tell time. We conducted the majority of session in French. His pronunciation has definitely improved."
"The student and I started with the reading section. He is concerned about pacing on this section of the exam. I had him do an interdisciplinary passage with charts and graphs. He is good at synthesizing material. I then had him do another fiction passage. We then transitioned to the math section, and worked on data representation and analysis. I had him do questions with stem-and-leaf plots, mean, median, mode, range, box-and-whisker plots, and histograms. These topics were all review that we then built upon. I then had him do questions with scatterplots including line of best fit, interpolation, extrapolation, standard deviations, domain, and range. This was all good practice for him."
"The student and I started working on the sample questions that were in her test review packet. We got through the first half of the arithmetic section and did several additional practice problems for each question. She is still getting back into the swing of mathematics, but I could definitely see progress and she seemed much more comfortable by the end of the lesson!"
