"The student and I went over decimals involving rounding, adding, subtracting, multiplying, etc. I taught her the basics over the white board, then I quizzed her over the following."
"A majority of the tutoring session tonight was spent completing a problem solving packet on a variety of topics including probability, differences of squares, and introduction to graphing. The remainder of the lesson was spent guiding the student through starting the paper for her final project in her humanities class."
"The student and I worked on his subtracting decimals worksheet. He struggled a bit with the idea of knowing how to subtract negative integers. After helping him with the information, he seemed to have a better understanding of what to do. We also worked on rounding with decimals and place values, which he seemed to have a good grasp on since he went over it with his mother the night before."
"The student showed me some math work that she had had in her possession. We went over all of the problems that she had gotten wrong on the three sheets. I wanted to see where she went wrong and I wanted her to see her own mistakes and to catch herself. The concept for all three sheets was subtraction of fractions and some with renaming. We focused on this task for this session since I saw that there was a need for this here. We worked on these problems for the rest of the night making sure that she had a good understanding of everything."
"Today, our focus was working on area and perimeter and converting back and forth from centimeters and meters. The student gets a bit mixed up when going back and forth from meters to centimeters and with the difference between perimeter and area. Her multiplication is great however. She is slowly improving on the number of multiplication facts she has memorized."
"For this session, the student practiced his speed with single digit addition. He used the skill of counting up on the lower number and did very well with this skill. He was able to improve his time to 1 1/2 min! Great job! He also practiced on of his math sprints in which he circled the greatest number in each set. He was able to do this in just over 3 minutes. We will continue to practice this to improve his speed. He practiced his poem. He struggled with remembering the first stanza, but will improve with practice as usual. He also read several pages out of his book about stars and planets."
