Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In today's session we reviewed for her Physics exam which covered heat transfer and thermal expansion. She seems to understand the concept but will have to practice the problems in order for her to have a really good understanding of the concepts. Hopefully she studies the concepts a little bit more before her exam."
"Student 1 finished his simple machines playground today, which looks really good! He also practiced his speech for the first time. He's still working out what to say, and we haven't used PowerPoint yet, but the more practice the better. Student 2 did her grammar homework on possessives. I had planned to move onto a learning website where her teacher had posted practice exercises, but she actually asked to do math today! We wrote out the times table through 6 so that she could see the patterns, which helped her. She then asked me to show her how to do multiplication using large numbers. It was great to see her excited and eager to work more on math! "
"During this session, we reviewed concepts related to the exam the student had the next day. We completed exercises that illuminated concepts of the subjunctive, adverbial clauses and preterite/imperfect. I believe that the student fully grasped these complex concepts. I think her main issue revolves around effectively translating material and maintaining her accuracy while in timed situations. However, with enough practice, I believe that she will significantly improve."
"We went through her workbook. It was about regression lines and their properties and how she can use them to estimate the other values. Also we had some questions for wage and net payment which she had to subtract different expenses first to find the net income and then compare the results. We solved some questions for interest rates for both simple and compounded interest rates. She is doing great and she understands what she is doing,"
"The student read two new books today all by herself without asking me to read them to her. She completed a Science worksheet on labeling the parts of a tree as well as one in which she had to match the animal/insect with the picture of the environment in which they live. She learned how to use a ruler to measure objects in inches. She also practiced addition by working on some problems, counted by two's, and also learned how to use the greater and less than symbols. Her mom showed me her report card and she made a great improvement."
"The student had a very good lesson today! We did a lot of work learning body parts. She's slowly but surely learning them- she now knows ventre (stomach) and yeux (eyes). I need to make new flashcards for body parts so she can be quizzed while I'm not there."
