Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over some more concepts in physics including light diffraction, Doppler effect and electromagnetic radiation. I feel as though the student is really progressing in his understanding of physics."
"This session went well. We went over problems on equilibrium constants. The student is very bright and needs very little help when it comes with doing problems. She expressed her difficulty with the professor's exam. I told her to start making a study guide with all the formulas in the book and memorize them."
"Reviewed the quadratic formula and practiced finding roots through both factoring and using the quadratic formula. Also reviewed the formulas that she will need to memorize for the test."
"We reviewed chapters 9 and 10 for the student's upcoming final. We reviewed using the final exercises that ended each chapter as well as my own practice problems. The student seemed to have a strong grasp on the various grammar topics we discussed including future tense, por vs. para, preterite vs. imperfect, and subjunctive tense. I'm sure she will do great on her final!"
"We worked on fast subtraction and multiplication facts. We also worked on double- and triple-digit subtraction. I then gave the student a simple subtraction test with 50 problems, which she completed 42 in four minutes, and earned a 72 percent. We will continue to work on this. Also, she mastered her 4's and 5's multiplication facts. We will move on to her 6's while reviewing her 3's, 4's, and 5's."
"Student and I worked on concepts and test problems falling in weakens, method of argument, strengthen, paradox, and main point questions."
"Reviewed several problems from a practice test then worked through a passage dealing with forces, momentum, and energy."
"We went over logical reasoning questions, including assumption, reasoning, and illustration questions."
"Spent the first 45 minutes of the session going over verbal reasoning, looking at questions she got wrong from practice test and then went over a couple sample passages. She felt like she was already answering more questions correctly compared to the start of our sessions. The remainder of the session was spent going over problems on electricity and currents. She understood electricity very well."
"Expanding strategies learned in Logical Reasoning to a larger scale with Reading Comprehension; developing quick-reading skills; real-world relevance of tested skills; active reading vs. passive reading; passages' content vs. structure; difference between arguments and viewpoints; breaking through the boring topics."
"We reviewed fundamentals of logic games in the context of practice games. We discussed taking advantage of repeating motifs within individual games."
"The student and I went over multiple sequencing and grouping logic game questions, worked through test day preparations, and test taking time management."
