Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student got a test back that he did poorly on so we just went over that. We did all the problems he missed. They included a sum of squares vs difference of squares multiple choice, a discriminant multiple choice, solving quadratics with the square root method, solving quadratics by factoring, solving quadratics with the quadratic formula, and applications of the quadratic in physics type problems,"
"Today we covered both Geometry and Biology. In geometry, we discussed ratios and proportions, how to read and set them up, and how they are useful in real-world applications. In biology, we discussed viruses: what they are, how they work, etc. Everything went very smoothly! No concerns!"
"Worked on finding areas of multidimensional objects. The student is doing great with Geometry and Trig functions but is struggling to use his algebra skills accurately. Though he knew the content very well, he failed his last test because the calculations were off. I am going to have him do extra algebra drills to improve his accuracy."
"The student and I covered the material he learned on his last test since he didn't have any homework or review. We also worked on some of the new things he said he had done in class just to be sure that he was confident with that material, which of percentage of numbers."
"We focused on the student's geometry homework. He was working on special right triangles, and solving right triangles using trig functions. He already knew the basic trig functions, but was having difficulty applying them to the triangles. We worked through the process of using them to solve triangles, and he caught onto the concept quickly. When I left, he only had a couple of triangles left to solve but he was proficient at solving them."
"During today's tutoring session, we continued to review for the student's exam on Chapters 1-6. We began by reviewing her homework for this week that reviewed all of the chapters. This was a helpful way to bring up concepts she had discussed in class throughout the year. We then reviewed sections 6.4 and 6.5, and began to review Chapter 4. She demonstrated a broad knowledge of all of the concepts we discussed, and I feel confident that she will do well on the exam. I was very happy to hear that she received a perfect score (plus a correct answer to the bonus question) on her Chapter 5 exam!"
