Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed all of the sections. In math, we discussed ratios and worked on the various ratio problems that could appear on the test. The student did very well. We also practiced various reading and verbal questions, practicing the strategies for each section and working on some of the more challenging questions."
"Today, we reviewed Verbal Reasoning and Reading Comprehension problems and summed up our tutoring sessions. We finished by discussing test taking strategies and how to prepare in the final week before the ISEE exam. I encouraged the student to take time to clear his head on Friday and to get lots of sleep and a good breakfast Saturday morning. He should bring four #2 pencils and two pens (blue or black ink only, erasable is allowed)."
"Due to the fact that this was our first session, I used this time to introduce the student to the format of the exam. He naturally excels in math. He has room for improvement in reading comprehension. I was able to deduce this fact from his performance on a series of selected practice questions from each section. Overall, I am pleased with his enthusiasm and willingness to learn. I believe that this positive attitude will pay dividends in the following sessions. As far as testing strategy is concerned, I gave a brief introduction to various techniques that one can use to increase accuracy and efficiency (such as recognizing common Greek and Latin prefixes in verbal). For practice, I recommended that he do three or four online practice tests on the test prep website. I will be able to start quantifying progress next session. This meeting lasted an hour and a half. Thanks."
