Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on solving simple algebra problems with addition and subtraction. I focused much more on process and method centered learning that gave him a holistic review of some of the things he had learned in the past. We ended by working on a critical thinking exercise that reviewed finding the area of triangles."
"We reviewed the student's assigned homework problems involving summations of upper and lower limits in calculating areas under a curve."
"During this session I worked with the student on implicit differentiation and derivatives of inverse functions. She had a better grasp on concepts. Over all this session went well."
"The student completed a review assignment over logarithms. We focused on using properties of logarithms to simplify logarithmic equation and using change of base property. We briefly discussed transformations to a logarithmic graph."
"The student and I went over some problems from her book and online work over functions and inverses of functions. She seemed to grasp the material well but factoring was something she needed to refresh herself on to be able to do more quickly."
"In today's session the student worked on his homework assignment. It specifically focused on word problems and how to set up equations based on the information given in them. These are tough because there is no set pattern to solving them and he did have difficulty with them, particularly in where to start. It did get a little better with practice, but this is something we are going to have to continue to work on together. I recommended that she do more practice from the book than was given to her as homework and we will continue to spend time on this material together."
