Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on listening and comprehension. We read two stories and translated sentence by sentence. We also played a game that tested his understanding of the story and recapped old vocab."
"Today we worked on a worksheet I made on the expressions in Spanish for "I like," "you like," "he/she/Usted likes," "we like," and "they/Ustedes like." The student really likes worksheets so I try to always have a new one. The whole way to say "like" in Spanish is very, very different in Spanish. He did a good job even though it is difficult. Afterwards, I made more questions."
"We covered vocabulary the student is going over in class. We reviewed her presentation on Brazil and talked about past participles."
"We started with a grade check, and most of the student's grades have still stayed the same, his lowest grade being a C (72) in biology. He is on break this week for the end of the first quarter, but we still met to continue prep for the PSAT. We finished the English practice, going over such items as subject/ verb agreement, easily confused words, punctuation rules, and fluency. He did a few practice sessions, and got a average of 7 or 8 out of 11 right. We went over the ones he got wrong, why he got it wrong, and strategies to get the right one. We will start working on math on Tuesday. He was motivated and had high concentration throughout the lesson. He has other practice English passages he can do on his own before our next session."
"We studied the future tense, and conjugated one verb of each group with the endings of the future tense. We also studied the vocabulary of the bathroom, and played hangman to practice all the vocabulary that we've seen so far. The student also wrote the conjugation of tener, which is "to have" in English, and all prepositions. She would do well to have a folder."
"We studied the student's vocabulary to prep for her tests this week. Her mom and I touched base about the class. I gave her some tips to assist with memorization of words; word association tips. We talked about how she should prepare for the quizzes by using flashcards and practicing describing the words in Spanish."
