Tutoring review by Lindsey in Lyndon, KY
The student completed her math review in preparation for a test tomorrow over solving for a variable when it appears on both sides of the equation. She understands the process of isolating the variable but had some questions on the process when decimals and fractions are involved. We discussed some ways to help with this, including getting rid of the fraction as your first step by multiplying. Her grades are improving, and she is beginning to double check her work and take her time to avoid mistakes.

Tutoring review by Tracy in Lyndon, KY
The student has her precalculus final on Thursday and had a variety of practice problems to work on. We went over finding the exact value of trig functions and inverse trig functions, how to graph sine and cosine curves, solving trig word problems with right triangles and with non-right triangles, solving trig equations, working with sequences and summation notation, and ellipses. She has great calculator skills to use when checking her work. Her reasoning skills are excellent too. She still has a lot of practice problems to complete, based on the topics we went over, and that should help her finish preparing for the final.

The student was very happy to tell me that she received an A on her last test. Her overall grade has increased to a B+. Today we covered a new topic, symmetry. We covered different types of transformation as well, including rotation, reflection, and translation. She showed a good understanding of the concepts.

The student did a great job of picking up the material. We finished covering chi-squared tests by going over independence problems and solving them out. We then started going through her second practice exam for her final that will be coming up in April. She was grasping the material quickly and also we reviewed some important probability and binomial functions! We will finish going over the second practice test at our next session. I gave the student some problems from an AP statistics book to practice with for chi-squared tests and linear regression. She will be working them outside of sessions and checking them with the answer key at our next session.

This session, we went over a worksheet for a test the following day. The student really excels at algebra type geometry questions but seems to have a bit of trouble with proofs still. Hopefully, I can help make proofs a bit easier with consistent practice.
