Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Prepared for test. Practiced two-column proofs. Reviewed identity properties of congruence, definition of congruence, angle and segment addition postulates, and properties of linear pairs and adjacent angles. Discussed study strategy."
"She and I reviewed for an exam she will take today. The exam covers plotting numbers on a number line including radicals. It also covers solving linear equations, order of operation, simplifying by combining like terms and inequalities including absolute value. She and I made sure to cover each of these categories so she will be adequately prepared. She struggles with combining fractions (add/subtract, divide/multiply). She knows what to do but she questions herself. I think more practice will solidify this knowledge; she needs to trust her gut. Absolute value problems were a little tricky, but I think by the end of our session, this concept was more clear."
"She and I went over some topics in preparation for a quiz retake she will be doing tomorrow and a test that she has next week. We discussed a geometry proof, lines, degrees of symmetry, and translations on a graphic plane. She grasped the concept of rotations and translations on the graphing planes easily, while the proofs took a little more time to explain and understand."
"She and I went through her chemistry review sheet. She was doing well with certain problems but needed help with some concepts. I also helped her with a couple assignments, so she'll be all prepared for tomorrow."
"She did not have much homework this week, so I gave her a preview of her next topic in chemistry (solubility rules.) She seemed to understand the concepts well, and we did a few very simple examples of using solubility rules. She shows a lot of curiosity about chemistry and the periodic table, so we spent some time discussing the periodic table. She shared with me that she did well on her last chemistry test; she said it was "easy" and that her other classmates found it difficult. She should definitely be proud of herself that her hard work in our sessions is paying off. We then started on her geometry project. She worked to come up with the solution to each question on her own, and I asked her to check her answer for each question. Some of the questions were more difficult than others, but she persevered and was able to find the correct solution. She is very polite and hardworking. It is always a pleasure working with her."
"She has a test on Tuesday, so we just went through a couple review questions in preparation. We went over more review tips during the last ten minutes of the session, but in general, she seems very well prepared! Just remember to read the questions closely and be careful to not rush through the question before being sure you know what they're asking!"
