Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The purpose of this session was to review the student's material. We started reviewing some algebra problems that were assigned to her that included factorization and solving equations. Next, we went over her homework, first going over the assigned problems, most of them about the law of cosines; the remaining ones were about the trigonometry of the triangle. After that, we reviewed more problems from her list. I checked her understanding, and she told me she understood everything, and she seemed to be more confident with the material given in class. Overall, the win from this session is that she had a better understanding of how to use the law of cosines, and she is ready for the next topic."
"We worked on make up homework and on a chapter test. The test consisted of similar triangles, showing how triangles are similar, ratios and proportion, and also proportions and similar triangles. Her make up home work was book work about ratios and proportion. and she also had an extra credit worksheet."
"I helped the student practice using the distance formula to find the perimeter and area of irregular shapes. The challenging part of these questions was really just visualizing the picture. Once he had a clear picture of the figure in his head, he was able to do the calculations appropriately. In preparation for his test, he should definitely review and redo some of his homework problems again to make sure he remembers any important strategies in solving these questions. And of course, I'm pleased to hear that he received an excellent grade on his take-home quiz."
"We covered equations of conics and went over all of the student's worksheets from class. I helped him with any problems he had difficulty with, and he seems to grasp the topics he is learning in class now very well. We continued to do problems with angles formed by secants, chords, and tangents in circles."
"We went through the student's exam review. It was about perimeter and area of different figures. I explained how she has to do them and use the given information to find the unknown. She was able to do most of them by herself. She needs to practice more, which we will work on. She is doing well."
"We made final preparations for the student's makeup test. We reviewed all topics discussed in previous sessions and placed more focus on conditional probability. We went into detail on how the denominator of the probability changes as you go from marginal to conditional, and I showed him examples to see such a process in action. We ended the session going over homework problems."
