Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We'll be going over Algebra II, which is our last set of fundamentals, and then we'll just work practice problems!"
"We reviewed the vocabulary section, using prefix/suffix/root word techniques to break down the words in questions missed. We went over the worksheet homework the student completed for the session ,and set new homework: writing sentences using all the new words in the vocab section."
"The student and I worked on her assessment work. She did a few sections before she arrived, so we went over the problems she missed and then did two more sections. She did very well on the last reading section and I think she's ready to go for the test. When she made mistakes, as soon as I started her on the problems she was able to finish them. I know she will do much better than before tutoring began."
"Today we met on campus to begin research for Geneva's Texas Politics research paper. We made a list of several topics that should be discussed in the paper and began reading some of the books from her bibliography. Next session we will try to complete and outline and more research."
"Made basic conversation and noted where the student is having difficulty with vocabulary and sentence formation. Developed a plan of action for coming lessons -- emphasizing on conversation first, and secondarily reading and composition."
"Today, the students practiced reading, writing, and listening skills. Student 1 takes her time while reading, and benefits greatly from listening to me read sentence by sentence while she follows along, and then reads aloud for herself. For both students, this sort of practice will help them develop an ear for the language, which in turn will help their comprehension and speaking skills. we spent a little bit of time on vocabulary review. Next lesson, I will bring a short practice quiz for each of them, so that they can get used to the feeling of answering questions in French without my immediate help/correction (until the end)."
