The student was very engaged during this session. Although she did tend to wander in her thought process, she was easily redirected and seemed to be in a good mood. I provided her with a list of vocabulary words pertaining to travel, which we went over together. We then watched a Rick Steves video about Spain, and I let her pick the region she wanted to learn about. I asked her to take notes during the video, and told her that on her exam I plan to give her during the next session, I may ask questions about the content of the video. She was very interested in the video, and would sometimes pause the video to ask me a question, or rewind it to hear a part again if she didn't catch something. I plan to write an exam for our next session covering various material from the past several weeks in order to gauge how much the student has retained over the semester.

We went over the Spanish video for "me gusta" and "te gusta." We did not do it all because the person speaks in both Spanish and English, but I wanted the student to see the series of videos he can watch on his own to improve his ear, his grammar, and his vocabulary. We watched two other videos partially. Finally, we worked in his textbook, working on his being able to make sentences and recall words.

The more detailed item that we focused on were commands. The student asked, and I shared the definitions of those he didn't know from a set of about 8 infinitives. Mom's request was more on the side of conversation. Per that, I felt it best for us to begin w/the 5 Question words. I dictated them to him and he wrote them, which carried over into a mini lesson on pronunciation, vowels, and accents! Returning to the question words, we dissected/translated a few sentences I'd shared w/him, like "Cuantos meses hay en un ano?", "...dias en una semana?" and "Cuantos anos hasta tu cumpleanos de 14?"

Today we worked on pronunciation and present tense conjugations. They are doing much better on pronunciation, and the youngest family member was even able to roll her r's for the first time. They should all continue to practice it during this upcoming week. We also went over conjugating -ar, -er, and -ir verbs in the present tense. They seem to understand and should reinforce this skill through the homework of writing out the changes during this upcoming week.
