Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed data structures and algorithms in preparation for her interview with Google. We discussed how to construct a tree and how to analyze a search algorithm. We also briefly touched on combinatorics, which she will practice with this week. Next time we meet, we will go over some topics she hasn't studied very heavily, particularly threads, locks, and semaphores, so that she can be prepared if they come up during the interview."
"The student and I worked on his online homework platform. We solved modeling inequality questions. He is still confused about how to interpret questions. We were unable to go through much examples before time ran out. We schedule to meet tomorrow, and I intend to explain to him more and teach him tricks to back checking his answers and the fixing his algebra."
"The student and I covered activity to show how literally computers take instructions as well as a quick overview of Object Oriented Programming. We also began instruction in C++, input/output, arithmetic operators, variable types and increment operators. They did not seem to be struggling with anything in particular and were attentive. Mad Libs were assigned as homework assigned."
"The student and I did some Java review, and then we set up a webserver on his laptop. Next week, we will begin to get Eclipse setup to interact with the server and hopefully begin to work on an app we can deploy on the server."
"The student and I mostly reviewed since we haven't met up in a while. We went over copying and pasting a link and I let the student do it all by herself and she seems to be getting the hang of it. She seemed more confident this tutoring session. I made sure to clearly write out each step for the things we did so she can refer back to them and practice them."
"The student and I refreshed some of what we learned in the previous session and practiced greetings and introductions, formal and informal. She will learn the new vocabulary for homework."
