Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student had a great session. He was very sharp and engaged, and he seemed more confident in his ability to do the work. Drilled 1st, 2nd, and 3rd declension noun endings. Reviewed 4th and 5th declension endings. Reviewed the uses of the five cases. Supplemental presentation on making the five forms of the infinitive and their translations. Excellent progress!"
"The student and I discussed homework problems for 2D Motion and Projectiles. His class plans to take this test on 10/30, and he plans to take the quiz that day. Therefore, he is only behind current coursework by a single test, which he plans to make up later in the week. Since this will keep him from falling any further behind, we are left with only his missed work to complete. At the end of the session, we talked briefly about rotational motion. We will cover this topic in greater depth before his test."
"We continued to work on the student's college application essays. We edited, revised, and rewrote several parts of different essays. Mariah is pleased with her progress, and excited to submit her college applications."
"The student and I met for our last session for this course. We finished up her last course assignment which was to use discriminant analysis to classify PhD candidates into those that would complete their program and those who would not. The data included 50 subjects and 17 variables. The equation we came up with utilized 5 of these variables and correctly classified 92% of the subjects. We also noted that most of the weight was carried by two variables and when we ran an analysis using only those two we correctly classified 88% of the subjects. In real world applications, the rougher equation might be preferred because the amount of power carried by the other 3 variables could well be just statistical artifacts. I really enjoyed working with the student."
"We focused on math this week. We went over some of the more complicated math concepts covered on the test, such as probability, solving for X, etc. I also introduced some new vocabulary words. Next week we will do a little more math, but mainly focus on the critical reading section."
"The student did terrific today! He definitely brought his A-game to tutoring today. We finished our coverage of the genitive, dative, ablative and vocative cases in Latin. He plowed smoothly and expertly through the translations. He demonstrated a true command of this important grammatical concept. Great job today!"
