We reviewed chi squared tests for the student's exam on Thursday. This involved going back through the PowerPoints from both sections of the chapter and then completing a practice test. He was able to get through the practice test quickly and we even had some time to delve into the implications of the shape of the chi squared curve and things like that. I think he'll do very well on the test.

I was happy to know that the student was pleased with her last exam score; she received a B. Today in our session, we covered problems from her homework assignment. Those questions came from chapter 6 and chapter 4. Some of the concepts that we covered were confidence intervals, margin of error, and sample mean. The homework questions were not as complex and she was relieved that we were able to cover all of the questions during our session.

We went over how to thoroughly organize her literature review. Her topic is quite complex and has a lot of variables. I gave her a few tips regarding what to include and where to put the information. I also gave her a few ideas regarding concepts to further investigate (i.e., psychosocial theories explaining identity development in terms of motherhood and research investigating the relationship between conception type and parenting readiness).

The student's progress continues even though it is slow. What's important though is that she thoroughly understands the chapters and the practice problems posted by her professor. I think we will have sufficient time to do both. She has begun putting concepts into perspective but her most difficult topic involves pdf and probability function and expectation values. How are they related and how they changed is her biggest issue. We will do tons of examples on these topics in the weeks to come.
