Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student worked on his math homework, which asked him to use different operations to solve problems. He breezed through it and did not need any assistance from me. He also completed "Into the Gauntlet" and we discussed characters, setting, and plot. We made predictions about what might occur in the next book. I also had him start some research for a science project that is due next week. He was able the find the important information in the article with little guidance from me."
"The student worked on his section 2.2-2.3 homework. He has a quiz on 2.1-2.3 on Friday and a unit test next Thursday."
"The student worked on how to determine what 10 to a certain exponent will look like. She was getting confused with how to add a certain amount of numbers, so we went through a few steps she can complete to get the number and then how to determine where her commas should go. We also worked on some reading comprehension and how to write a detailed paragraph. We will continue to focus on these things at the next session."
"The student worked on missing numbers and rounding activities to start to practice place value. I tried a mystery number logic activity, as this is a topic covered on the standards. For place value, she did well with the practice."
"The student worked on multiplying two-digit by three-digit numbers with decimals. He had to determine how many decimals were in each factor so that he could place the decimal correctly in the answer. We also played a multiplication game. He is so competitive, he loved trying to beat me."
"The student worked on properties of addition. We used paper as manipulatives and modeled the concepts of commutative and associative properties. She was understanding the concept when concrete models were presented. She does struggle to grasp concepts when taken into the abstract (e.g.. numbers only). I can tell that she works hard to understand the concepts being presented."
