Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Tonight the student and I worked on his English to Latin sentences that were his homework. Next week, after I can look at his quizzes, I will be better able to come up with a game plan to help him with remembering grammar and also trying to have more fun! It may just be a matter of writing up worksheets/charts of the most problematic areas, so he doesn't have to constantly leaf through the grammar book. But next week will give me a better idea of where to go."
"The student and I went over more math today, reviewing combinations/permutations, substitution, and angles. She's doing well so far, and I think as the concepts become more of a habit she'll have an easier time with the questions. We're still working on how to interpret/translate story problems."
"Today we focused on direct and indirect object pronouns. I guided the student through some exercises that helped clarify the pronouns. Next, I gave him sentences in English and he had to translate them into Spanish. He had to conjugate the verb and use the correct form of the pronoun. This was great practice for him. Finally, we reviewed the conjugation of Ser and Estar and worked on the times to use these verbs. He is going to familiarize himself with these topics so next Tuesday we can move on to preterite and imperfect."
"During this session we went over a practice test to help him prepare for his first pre-calculus test. The practice test covered topics such as: solving for a variable, finding asymptotes, long division of polynomials, etc."
"The student and I worked on her homework involving reading comprehension. There were a few questions she needed help with and I was able to walk her through them. After she finished her homework, we did reading comprehension on some reading passages I had. We read the passages together and she was able to answer the questions easily."
"Today the student worked primarily on homework for English class. He had a good grasp on the assignment and did not need much assistance. He has a Spanish test on Friday, so we spent the remaining time reviewing the parts of the body and face. His test will cover roughly 25 body parts. He was engaged in the learning process and is improving. All in all today's session was very good, and I think he is improving with each session."
