"The student said she completed her math HW at school, so tonight we did review of last night's lesson, plus a review of her assessment practice test. We finished math with a 1/2 hour of multiplication review.

"We studied for the student upcoming history test on the judicial, executive, and legislative branches of the government, focusing specifically on his study sheets as his teacher advised. We also practiced the concepts that went along with the material so he isn't just memorizing terms, but understanding the specifics of each branch, its duties, and how it interacts with the others."
"We covered the ACT Math section. The student definitely has the skills to do well on the test, but his lack of familiarity with standardized testing is an issue. I noticed that when we were just working through problems at the beginning he did just fine. We're going to continue working on testtaking skills. Next session will be this Sunday, focusing on the English section."
"Today's session was spent previewing the topics in Chapter 3 that the student will be covering in her homework for this coming week. Topics included graphing points on a coordinate plane, graphing equations, calculating rates or slopes from a given word problem or equation, writing/graphing equations in slopeintercept form, and pointslope form. By the end of our session, The student seemed to have a sufficient handle on each of these topics. We ended the session by reviewing the results of her first exam, which the student demonstrated a solid understanding of the tested concepts."
"The student and I worked on calculating percent increases and decreases as well as commission and sales tax. She completed her homework and did some additional problems on calculating the original price when given a new price, and the amount of increase/decrease. She has all the basic concepts down, and overall, she did great."
"This particular session was very focused. When we began, I asked the student what he had done in class that day. He responded that they had been learning about Punnet Squares. When I inquired as to whether he understood the concept, he replied with a very convincing yes. I took the problem I had assigned as an opportunity to teach him how to solve these problems. In the process, I was able to provide him with an easy method for overcoming the part of Punnet Squares that he found most challengingdetermining all of the possible gametes each individual could produce. Moreover, since Punnet squares rely on assumptions deriving from a number of fundamental genetic principles, teaching him about Punnet Squares also allowed me to refresh him on these principles."
"Today we covered Quantum Theory and numbers. We also discussed formulas for light energy and energy of a photon. Lastly, we practiced Lewis Structures and resonance. The student is very smart and I have confidence that she will do very well on her exam. She picks up concepts with a minimum of explanation. I think her sessions will be of most use to her if she has a list of topics she has doubts about so that we can address them efficiently."
"During this session, we reviewed the math sections that the student completed by herself at home in order to make sure that she understood how to approach the problems. We then did a timed section where she completed as many as she could in the time that would be allotted to her on the SAT and we went over how she could solve each problem. She is quite good at the reading section, so we spent less time reviewing that section than the math section."
