Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We started the session by taking a quiz on 6.2. This covered the normal distribution, and required the student to find different values in the equation z = (X - ?) / ? based on different population parameters. She also practiced converting decimals into percentages and percentages into decimals. Once we finished the quiz we talked about 6.3 and 6.4 and started her homework on those sections."
"We spent half of our time on Algebra, and half of our time on Chemistry. We completed his Algebra homework and worked on the beginnings of stoichiometry for Chemistry."
"Made Spanish Mother's Day Cards with the students using learned vocabulary and translations. Used "Me gusta" to describe what they like about their mother. Continued reading comprehension of La Casa de Calle Mango with Student 1, and taught him present perfect tense."
"The student and I went over her practice tests. She did one section of each subject. She scored very well on the writing and critical reading. On the math section, she only missed one or two questions. After reviewing the incorrect questions, we reviewed general test strategies and strategies for the math sections. We also did some practice questions from the PSAT book to reinforce the math strategies. I asked her to take a full length practice test before next time, preferably in an area where she will have some distractions, so she can get used to dealing with that during the actual exam."
"We did more heat of formation types of problems. In particular, we spent an inordinate amount of time on a particular problem, but in the end we solved it. Hopefully, after having done it, the student should be able to solve those types of problems from now on."
"We reviewed some prepositions, talked about cases, and reviewed comparisons. We learned new vocabulary and reviewed some that the student already knew, focusing on the living room. We will review and learn other parts of the house in the next couple of sessions. The student's homework is it to speak aloud at home comparing things in his apartment in German and review notes."
